In which the magician meets with his sister after an absence of eight years.

The coffee maker beeps. Alex pours everyone a cup, though at least gives Jay a small one, and sits back down. I dump cream and sugar into mine and wait.

“I see that hasn’t changed,” Alex says with the hint of a smile.

“Some things don’t. Are we done sparring?”

“Not on your life. You ran away. No note. No explanation. Do you know what you did to mom?”

“Nothing she couldn’t handle.”

Alex’s right hand twitches on her coffee mug. She takes a sip. “I didn’t know you could be so cold, little brother.”

“I can do a lot of things.”

“Most of those seem to involve running away.”

.... and now hitting 23K and taking a break before shifting into Charlie's POV for a few scenes. Whew.

  1. Oh. My. Goodness. 23k? REALLY?

...okay, I better open up my file and get some freaking words in...

Chasing you is going to give me carpal tunnel syndrome, Alcar ;)

  2. Alcar - that's amazing whether the words make sense or not lol and by the way I like your title

  3. ps - did you do that deliberately - just having fun? IIV

  4. Sassy: Oh, deliberately :) I plan to be rather silly with most of the days just because I can.

Monkey: Someone else in Victoria is closing on 30K by evenings end (or hoping to), which IS nice. I lost over 12 hours to a superhero murder mystery, but it was quite fun to do and a nice break from working on the story anyway. The fact that I am still in the first arc is nicely shocking to me, so this novel MIGHT hit over 90K for a first draft, which I haven't managed in years.

Right now Charlie is chatting with a garden gnome/god to learn more about gods and miracles.
